On Wednesday last week we were taken to Brest to visit the Naval Base. We had to hand in our passports together with bags, cameras and phones. We had a tour all round this 'town within a city' and saw a variety of warships includung one with missiles. We were hoping to be allowed into the old U-boat penn (massive) but we weren't as it's now used by French submarines which reminded me of the shock I got one day last year when we were walking along the Crozon Peninsula on the side of the Rade de Brest and a submarine suddenly surfaced! I literally couldn't believe my eyes.
