Locquirec

Yesterday we walked part of the coastal path around Locquirec. It was a beautiful day and the scenery was stunning!

Huelgoat Forest

Huelgoat Forest is a wonderful place, I find it incredibly beautiful and atmospheric. I never tire of it because it always feels different - the atmosphere changes so much with the seasons, the weather and the time of day. It is a mysterious place yet it feels very very safe. My favourite part of the forest is the sentier du ruisseau, it is overwhelmingly peaceful yet vibrant with nature, creation.

Lac du Drennec with Brittany Walks

It was a grey day with some drizzle at first but that didn't stop us from having a lovely walk last Wednesday afternoon. The weather added drama to the landscape. See also http://www.brittany-walks.blogspot.fr/

Huelgoat Lake

It's always relaxing to walk around Huelgoat Lake.

This week spring started bursting into view

We stopped to look at the old lavoir (wash house) from where one of the streams runs into the lake.

Walk by the Nantes-Brest Canal

On 12th February we went for a walk with Barbara along the Nantes-Brest Canal, near Paule just out of Finistere in the Cotes d'Armor.
It was lovely, and I've never seen the canal so full of water. Paul says he's going to take the canoe out there and go down the chutes in summer....

Meanwhile Ally hated the little iron bridges at first but then got used to them and wasn't scared at all. What a girl!

Le Dossen

On the same afternoon, February 13th, we went to Le Dossen and (as the tide was out) the Ile de Sieck.  There are so many wonderful beaches that it's hard to say which one might be more beautiful or atmospheric than any other, but for the moment this beach and island remain my favourites.  They combine grandeur with intimacy and wildness with calm. They are simply very pleasing to look at and to be there.

Plage du Billou et Plage du Cheven

We were up on the North Coast again last week (11th Feb), this time just west of Roscoff.  We found two new beaches which were beautiful - Billou and Cheven.  As we walked along we saw granite rocks containing sparkling crystals!

Terenez

We went for a great walk at Terenez last week. It was windy but not too cold, andt was wonderful to be out.  The sea was making a great noise on the rocks, a real contrast to the horses grazing peacefully by the coastal path.

Back to Breizh February 2013

I came back to Huelgoat on 4th February and joined Paul who had come out a week earlier. He said it had rained a lot and he was right. It was wet..... but warmer than the UK. It's great in the forest but rather squelchy in parts and the sound of the river is wonderful!
